DESERT LANDSCAPE WALL ART

Chile boasts some intriguing and varied landscapes but it was my visit to the Atacama Salt Flats that really captured my imagination and inspired this series of desert landscape wall art. There were vast open spaces encrusted with dried salt crystals and a surprising amount of water. I had never been anywhere like this before and I couldn’t wait to create new work inspired by my visit. On my return I created some salt crystals of my own and screen printed their shapes onto cloth as a way to build up colour and create the visual texture. Just like the desert landscape I wanted the art to have a feeling of space but also provide lots of visual interest to those that looked up close. Click on any of the mages to enlarge work.
