Magazine pages can add an unexpected element, often sparking fresh ideas. How closely you stick to your original inspiration is entirely up to you; it can be a great way to simplify or create an abstract image, if that’s your goal.

Your collages could be an end in themselves or a stepping stone to develop your ideas in different media eg painting, printmaking, textiles etc

For a long time I thought I had no interest or aptitude for art but when I realised that this wasn’t true I found I lacked the skills to create my own individual work.
