Broken Snow
The tyre tracks in the snow made beautiful patterns, some of them looking like mini landscapes. Using my photographs as a reference, I collaged different types of papers to explore design options for this piece. This is one of the series of black and white original art, inspired by the winter landscape and is a unique print that could not be replicated.
‘Broken Snow’ is a fabric collage, made of hand dyed black fabric and fine hand printed white fabrics. The white fabrics have been screen printed with tyre patterns, which are only visible on close inspection but adds interest and links the work more closely to the original source inspiration. The stitched ‘road’ suggests the texture of tarmac and the stitching on the snow, helps to define the undulations in the snow.
