Hope I
How would the world keep running if no-one was allowed to leave home? How could we continue this way? These questions were running on repeat in my head when we were first told to ‘stay-at-home’.
Hope I and Hope II are two charcoal drawings created around this time. Without the visual stimulus that normally inspires my work, I started to write my dark and sometimes confused feelings, in a dark and confused way.
The story of communities coming together, people doing selfless acts and pulling together inspired the lighter more ordered section at the top. Gradually, the more positive feelings over took the darker ones and there was hope.
Hope I selected for the Chaiya Art Award virtual exhibition ‘Impact’.
You can read more about it in my blog or hear me talk about the work in my video
