Painted into a corner (paint and collage)

£75.00

As this series of autobiographical work was being developed during the pandemic it seemed only natural that I would focus on the tools and materials that play an important part in my practice.

Ever since I started to make art I have used paints and collage to explore design ideas, so even though I don’t create paintings as such, paints are often there at the start of new work. In this case I started out by taking photographs of my box of paint tubes from different angles. I then digitally manipulated the images and digitally erased most of the tubes until I was left with just two.

The negative image of the tubes (ie the background) was transferred to a screen for printing. A board was covered in collage material and over painted in bright colours. The dark background was screen printed on top and the multi-coloured paint tubes were revealed in the spaces.

If you have any questions about the work, then please contact me and I’ll be pleased to help.
