Pristine Snow No More
Patterns made in the snow are unpredictable. When I was thinking about how I could interpret the snow patterns in cloth, it seemed appropriate that I used a similarly unpredictable process called ‘breakdown printing’ or ‘deconstructed screen printing’. This led to a whole series of black and white original art, inspired by the winter landscape. The is unique, one-off print which would be impossible to reproduced.
The printed pattern in ‘Pristine Snow No More’ reminds of the stage when the snow is still covering most of the ground and the patterns provide clues to who or what has been there since it first fell. Some of the darker areas are also stitched and suggests the rougher surface of the tarmac beneath the snow.
