Rooted in Digswell
Natural dye extracted from Oak Gall Nuts was suspended in soya milk and painted onto the linen. Iron mordant was added to some of the oak nut pigment to create the darker areas. Finally intricate marks were hand stitched with orange thread.
The delicate patterns from the oak gall nut pigment and the intricate stitching, gives the viewer lots of detail to enjoy and is a reminder of the wonder of nature around us.
